The origin of the Heimplanet brand began in 2003 with the idea of ​​a new tent concept that came up during a trip to Portugal. In 2011, THE CAVE, the first inflatable tent, went on sale. Since then, Heimplanet has introduced a range of innovative tents along with the Monolith line of backpacks, which focuses on a simple formula – a bag should be effective in any environment. The idea for Heimplanet originally came from generating ideas for an innovative tent design. She was born during a surf trip along the Portuguese coast in 2003. «We traveled along the coastline, and so we had to put up a tent several times. One day we arrived quite late at the place where we wanted to stay that night. It was dark and rainy outside when we tried to set up camp. That’s when we started talking about the idea of ​​improving the tent. At that time it was just fun to talk about the tent of the future.«, say the creators of the brand.

“It was 2008 when we took this idea seriously and started working on making it a reality.”

The design of the tent was born from the concept of creating a completely new approach to planning the design of a camping accessory. The main aspect was the inflatable version of the tent, devoid of metal rods and supports. You simply unfold it and inflate it. “During our development project, we met architect, designer and futurist Buckminster Fuller. Bucky — that’s what we called him inside our circle — had a great influence on the development of the concept of geodesic domes — the principle that we use for the inflatable structures of our tents. This tent design ensures that the center becomes an additional point of supportand the stress exerted on it will be evenly distributed over the entire area of ​​\u200b\u200bthe tent.

Heimplanet combines the geodetic principle with inflatable technology, thus creating the unique IDG («Inflatable Diamond Grating») technology. This combination gives high stability and strength to the structure of the tent.

“During our collaboration, we learned a lot about Buckminster Fuller, his work and his philosophy, which was a great source of inspiration for us. He was an amazing person, and his ideas sometimes just amazed us.”
